The only child of Rowan Shiratori, née Hahn-Nakamura. Devin was raised by his widowed mother with a stern mind, and disciplined hand. But there was always time pursue happiness through fun. His upbringing dove him head first into the tightest situations, seeing the good of challenge.

Unyielding in optimism, Devin's smiles equate his concrete self-confidence and independence. Outgoing, he likes bicycling, sometimes to avoid the larger crowd's invitation he knew growing up, especially the Coen siblings' trivial pestering. He does enjoy the company once in awhile, however. Opening his mouth before he thinks, whenever annoyed or jaded, Devin's rash mistake varies social trouble. At his worst, armed in biting sarcasm, or critical moral superiority, the more he knows of a person, the serious the wound is open to
pointing out past flaws winning him immediate discontent.

"There was a time when I was annoyed. I don't remember the exactly reason, but Halini accused me of being ungrateful for at least being able to see her for the day. I don't recall whether it was about her punctuality or my lost memory, but I couldn't blame anything else. It was our first bickering."

"Grateful..." Devin recalled. "You come here looking tired. Did you forget your make-up this morning?" Halini was speechless at his remark. Her eyes were bagged, but she didn't want to explain that she was running late. "Ah, right you don't wear make-up..." She ignored what said, too tired to face him, heels turned. Gentle words aimed sympathy, albeit agitated in sighed tone. "If you didn't want to come today, you should have texted me."

Halini didn't speak the whole way to her apartment.

For the longest time, since college, Devin had a crush on Halini. Though his dormant emotions toward a second confession makes his heart play an extensive lament tune, infatuation triumphs, but little hope remains.

I always liked Halini. Met her during my final semester at the two-year college I went to, in my elective class, centric in her silent knowledge, she was one of the top students. Halini was partnered with me during a paired activity. We spoke other interests over the easier subject that day in class. That was how our relationship sprouted. Somewhere along the line, an attraction sparked. We began seeing each other more. It was a typical run in after every lecture's end. We'd go out: talk about our day, have lunch together until a life-changing incident drew us apart. Suddenly, she stopped coming... I've initially thought she focused more on studies, but as dead week passed and finals over, everything finally fell apart.

Years passed... I had my own life-changing event, then... as if fate turned, Halini appeared into my life again.

She... doesn't even know me or what we did together anymore.
I shouldn't say I'm not judgmental, you'll become judgmental after knowing someone for a long time. When you do, and you like them, how far would you go to pursue a relationship that was gradually blossoming, only hindered, and wither as time lapsed? I want to rekindle that old flame I had with Halini... Or at least I'd like to know how she's doing..."
